Redwire Space has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Engineering in our Littleton, CO facility.
In this role you will be responsible for a wide variety of activities:
  • Manages a multi-disciplinary Engineering Team, including Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Project Engineering, Subject Matter Experts, and product technical leads.
  • Selects and hires candidates for engineering management and technical positions.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and compensation reviews for engineering staff.
  • Determines and implements engineering staff training and career development needs.
  • Responsible for overall engineering talent, research, design, development, testing, and controls for all space offerings and programs.
  • Forecasting engineering staffing demand and allocates talent based on business needs.
  • Analyzes project requests, proposals, and engineering data to determine space product feasibility, producibility, and cost.
  • Directs and coordinates activities of engineering or technical staff for space product design, fabrication, and modification. Develops design criteria for space products or systems, including verification and validation processes, and testing methods.
  • Performs risk assessment of aerospace systems and generates risk mitigation plans and strategies.
  • Implements and oversees the design aspects of the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) implementation.
  • Plans and supports experimental, environmental, operational and stress tests on models, prototypes, and flight space systems and equipment.
  • Conducts Gate review process, managing review boards, and managing product readiness.
  • Implements and conducts practices.
  • Conducts Failure Review Boards (FRB), Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), and implementing Lessons Learned.
  • Manages site IRAD process, ensuring focus on growth technologies and execution of IRAD projects.
  • Participates in long-range planning for new or projected areas of technological research and advancements.
  • Evaluates new technologies for application in improving design of aerospace systems.
  • Generates and reviews cost, schedule, and technical development content for bids and proposals.
Ideal Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aerospace, or related field.
  • Minimum of 16 years relevant Engineering experience.
  • Minimum of six years management experience.
  • Recognized space industry specialist with technical insight in multiple engineering fields and disciplines. Complexity of work is state of the art and may be new to the Company and to the industry.
  • Must have substantial experience managing space programs technical execution with an emphasis in product development.
  • Exhibited experience hiring, developing, managing, and mentoring engineering staff and teams
  • Prior experience optimizing the performance of the Engineering team, utilizing data to measure success
  • Ability to partner with Program Managers to establish goals and keep programs on track
  • Experienced with Gate review process (ie. SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.)
  • Ability to implement best practices.
  • Experience conducting Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), and implementing Lessons Learned.
  • US citizenship or US Person as defined by ITAR Regulations and ability to obtain a security clearance.
Desired Skills:
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Aerospace or related field.
  • Active security clearance.
Pay Range
$180,000 - $225,000

Redwire Space determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index, in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.
For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. Salaries will be based on the applicant’s level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will receive higher pay.
